"I am a Montreal-based musician. Freelance, independent. Meaning, I wear a few hats. I am a performer who plays music for contrabass, bass, A, B-flat, C and E-flat clarinets. I play written and improvised music, ranging in settings from orchestra, concerti, chamber ensemble and solo. I also write concert music, music for dance, film and theatre. I perform in all of these arenas both live on stage and in the recording studio. As well as touring extensively I teach contemporary and improvised music for all instruments. One of my most frequent habits is playing music with my band Ensemble Transmission, a sextet that contains flute, clarinet, violin, cello, percussion and piano."
“Lori Freedman is the best thing that ever happened to New Music. It is fantastic playing by a fantastic musician. Lori Freedman now owns my concerto.” — John Corigliano, composer, New York
“A musician capable of communicating such power and tenderness, such beautiful tone and rich multiphonics, such deep musicianship, is a treasure for the world.” — SoundaXis blogspot — John Oliver, Canadian composer, journalist for the SoundaXis Festival 2006, New Music Concerts, June 9, 2006, Glenn Gould Studio
