NOMÁDES..., a cycle of audio and audiovisual works, curated by Claudia Robles-Angel, that travels throughout the world, will produce an event in New York at noon on June 8, 2014, at NYCEMF (New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival).
NOMÁDES... presents fixed-media audio and audiovisual works throughout the world. In New York the presentation includes a selection of diverse works by artists who are living in Germany and interested in 'audiovisual composition.'
Hiromi Ishii REFRACTION (2010)
Hiromi Ishii is a creation of various forms and movements of light and shadow. The source image is a photo of fishes. It was deformed and its blue tone and silver light were extracted. The basic sound of music is an extracted harmonic movement of shakuhachi single tone. Reducing, extracting and refining are typical ways of creation seen in Japanese traditional art. Music and visual were composed in parallel by the author.
Ellen Fellmann DESERT (2005/06).
This work is inspired by an experience in the Sahara. Moved sand and sound—movements of viola and violoncello build the material. The irritation of the perception is the central question of this work. The form is structured wavy. The interactions between space/image—movements and space/sound—movements occur through the combination of linear and cyclic movements.

Audio excerpt by Johannes Sistermanns
Johannes S. Sistermanns
Music: Johannes S. Sistermanns. Video: Helga Griffiths. "Brainscape" is conceived as an animated journey over the landscape of the artist's brain. The video is a dreamlike, unreal flight simulation over the surface and into the deep canyons of the brain which has been given a glacial, icy texture. The brain is not only a thinking organ; it is also a repository of information: pictures, sounds and smells as well as personal and maybe even collective memories.
Paulo Ferreira-Lopes naT 2 (2006)
Paulo Ferreira—Lopes This work consists in a dramatic structure based on images and sound collages. At the center of this structure, the character of Ines de Castro emerges from a very distanced time, attempting to develop a global narrative an intrinsically timeless idea about the mystery of the birth, love and death.
Claudia Robles-Angel ZHONG (2005)
Claudia Robles-Angel Inspired by the Chinese character Zhong (the center, the middle), this audiovisual composition is a search for the CENTER, discovering a universe of constant and eternal modification, a world driven by the dynamic created through opposite fighting forces. The expression and symbol of this eternal transformation is fire, from which the multiplicity of the world is formed. The entire sound of the composition was produced with the software Csound.

The goal of NOMÁDES... is to present fixed media audiovisual works throughout the world, in which image and music share the same degree of importance; the cycle includes pure electroacoustic music pieces too.
The concerts aim to take place without a fixed venue or country, according to the name ‘nomádes’, a Greek word to define people who rather than settling permanently in one location, move from one place to another.
