Orford Six Pianos performs works by Bertrand, Debussy, Stravinsky.
Six pianists, 12 hands, 60 fingers, 528 notes! The Orford Six Pianos Ensemble highlights its 10th anniversary with a concert evoking the French composers of the XXth century known as the “groupe des Six”. Founded in 2006, the Ensemble renews the concert experience by presenting the classic repertoire in its original perspective. The works are presented in transcriptions and adaptations realized by Ensemble members. At Walter Boudreau’s invitation, Orford Six Pianos conceived this program according to its vision of “Back to the Future.” La mer and Le sacre are key turning points in XXth century music. Composed for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes where a young Coco Chanel cut her teeth, Le sacre du printemps started riots as the youthful creators sought to overturn conventions, inciting a cultural revolution. In a similar manner, Simon Bertrand echoes this, with works created during the “Maple Spring” where students also sought to change our perceptions…
