Unheard-of//Ensemble and Parhelion Trio present a double set at Scholes Street Studio on October 20th at 8 PM. Unheard-of performs new works from their 2017-18 season, Unheard-of//Dialogues, with premieres by Nickitas Demos, Nathan Hudson, Michael Lanci, Erin Rogers, and more. Parhelion Trio presents works by Derek Bermel, Jennifer Higdon, and Sidney Boquiren.
Ford Fourqurean (clarinet), Matheus Souza (violin), So Sugiyama (cello), and Daniel Anastasio (piano) form the core of Unheard-of//Ensemble. Unheard-of’s 2017-2018 season will focus on Unheard-of//Dialogues, exploring the connections of modern artistic voices musically, personally, and historically. The season features premieres by Margaret Schedel, Erin Rogers, Reiko Fueting, Nathan Hudson, Michael Lanci, Kevin Laskey, Nickitas Demos, and Stephen Cabell. Highlights include a workshop with the Manhattan School of Music composition studio, Avaloch Farm New Music Initiative residency, performances as guest artists with GA’s SoundNOW Festival, and a tour of the midwest including a guest residency at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Unheard-of is also teaming up with the International Chinese Cultural Arts Network and F-Plus to present premieres by Douglas Knehans and Edward Smaldone at the New York New Fusion Festival at Weill Recital Hall in December.
Praised by The Strad Magazine for their "effervescent" playing, Parhelion Trio—Sarah Carrier (flute), Ashleé Miller (clarinet), and Andrea Christie (piano)—is a New York City based, all-female ensemble dedicated to bringing virtuosic, robust, and impactful contemporary music to diverse audiences. The Parhelion Trio’s upcoming 2017-18 season will feature concert collaborations with Hypercube and Unheard-of//Ensemble, and premieres of new works for trio by American contemporary composers Daniel Weymouth and Erin Rogers. In August 2018, Parhelion will travel to Denmark and Iceland to perform and give workshops alongside Friction Quartet as the featured Ensembles in Residence for New Music for Strings Festival 2018.
