Over 16 million people in the United States can play the guitar and contrary to the mainstream media’s insistence, guitar music is far from dead.
If you want to join in or if you’re an existing guitarist looking to hone your skills, one of the easiest ways to learn is to get online and use one of these websites.
They’re super convenient, not expensive and can make a huge difference to your standard of play!
Fender is, of course, one of the biggest names in guitar design and manufacture, so it shouldn’t come as any big surprise that they’ve opted to lend their name to guitar education too.
One thing we really liked about this online guitar school was the 14-day free trial which gives you a chance to suss out whether it’s for you or not. It’s also very reasonably priced with a discount for an annual membership.
We were also pleased to see that there’s something for every guitarist here from the beginner to the expert and you can design your own learning path that delivers an end result that you can be proud of.

Guitar Tricks is a more expensive online guitar school than the Fender school but it offers over 11,000 lessons for that fefe and it comes with a 14-day trial for you to dip your toes in the water.
This content library has been developed over the course of more than 20 years and it really stands out how much effort has gone into the material, however, some of it is also showing its age now.
The fact that they have 11,000 lessons and over 900 song tutorials means you’re going to find it a fantastic learning tool, particularly if you’re a more experienced guitarist.
We were impressed by the detail the lessons provide. They help you get all the device settings correct (such as pedals and pickups) before you start to play.

TrueFire offers a nice 30-day trial as well as a really cool (though very pricey) lifetime subscription if you want a massive discount on their monthly fee.
They offer over 40,000 lessons and more than 30,000 sets of tabs too and they constantly add new content on a weekly basis.
We really like the structure that TrueFire brings to guitar learning and while it’s not the cheapest option, it really will grow with you, we don’t think we’d pick it to start learning with but for the long haul? It’s a really solid option.

If you’re the kind of learner who needs feedback on their work, then ArtistWorks Guitar is a fantastic online service that has personal instruction as well as tutorials.
They’ve got some big name instructors (such as Paul Gilbert) and they will review your work if you submit a video of you playing and provide assessment and feedback on it.
In addition, they also offer over 50,000 lessons which is more than enough to keep most guitarists busy for a long time.
Beginners may find ArtistWorks Guitar to be super useful until they’ve got the basics down pat but personal feedback does come at a cost and the monthly fee is higher than other providers, and you have to buy 3 months minimum with no free trial.
