Starfish by The Church

The Church has their 40th anniversary this year and we’ve been given the offering of a reissue of Starfish to celebrate.

The Australian act nearly went unnoticed in the global stage but the efforts of Clive Davis (who brought Whitney her fame) meant that Starfish would become their first international smash hit and highest charting album in 1988.

Now, before we sing its praises, we need to note that Starfish was originally re-released just 10  years ago, but this release isn’t an effort to milk the listener and it contains an extra 8 tracks for the album as well as acoustic and studio recordings.

Also, every track has been analog-remastered and they’ve really upped their game when it comes to packaging too.

It’s worth it too. Starfish is a beautiful record and the classic single Under The Milky Way would make this a great value buy but there’s not a bad track on the record.

Destination, Reptile and Anna Miranda are all stand out tracks and the sleeve notes in this new production really make the intention of each song clear to the listener.
